Sagboje speaks on Syria and the US

The United States is presently the world super power and it is their duty to ensure that international best practices, norms, treaties, protocols and conventions are strictly adhere to. Their responsibility to the world is like that of a father to his household. There are various protocols that have been enacted to protect civilians in a conflict situation.
The Mutually Assured Destruction forbades world powers from deploring weapons that would have catastrophic impact on the environment and human.
The Non-Proliferation Treaty was designed to reduce the influx, smuggling, and circulation of heavy weapons, and it usage by regime dictators and states prone to political instability.
The Chemical Weapons Convention of 1997, forbades the usage of radioactive, biological and chemical weapons in warfare.
In the Syrian crisis, it is appalling that Al Sad regime would nerve gassed innocent and hapless civilians. The rebels can not match government forces, especially now that chemical weapons has been involved. Who will protect the innocent civilians? The world have to come in. The US have to play it policeman role of arresting the situation. The International community should not fold their hands and allow this Syria absurd to go unpunished. There must be deterent to forestall a re-occurrence. Russia Vladimir Putin and Communist China should go and bury their head in shame. They are not worthy of been a member of the UN Security Council.
On this note, my prayer is Obama and America.

  • Hope Akpobasah Interesting...very interesting. As for the ongoing issue of whether America should use force in Syria, let me state unequivocally that Putin's Russia is insignificant!
  • Aduomayebe Adums Aghogho how did those weapons get to syria?
  • Idjakpa Oke Harrison @ Hope, hahahahhahahahaha. Dats what i can do, my dear American friend.
  • Sagboje Clinton Onoriode @adums, from Russia via Iran. Present Russia especially Putin is still engrossed in cold war bitterness. Putin was brought up under the Kremlin and was Under Secretary during Gorbachev. He is angry that the USSR captulate to US. Research has shown that virtually all dictators in the world are being supported by Russia and China. They provided uranium to fuel Iranian nuclear project. They provided scientist to North Korea to develope their long range missiles. They provide shelter for Al Bashir of Northern Sudan. They list goes on Adums.
  • Ozato Wilson @Adums How the weapon gets to Syria is insignificant. Al saad would hve sought for support if his govt. was not able to fight the rebels without using chemical weapons. We all saw the effect especialy on the innocent children. How many of the rebels the chemical killed? Al sad led Syria should b used as an example. So that the use of chemicals and all its paraphernalia on dis manner will be deterred. My suggestion however is that, the Article empowering the role of UN Security Council- vis-a-vis the UN peace keeping plan should b revisited. The vetoing of peace keeping plans by ONE or TWO members of the five permanent UN security council should be revisited.
  • Brume Onomavwe Brume I'm in total agreement with USA on dis one lest other such Al Asaad will surface in future if not checked. As to where these weapons emanated or came from is inconsequential for now and that must not be a bane to derail international laws or world's peace agreement to sensitive issues as this.
  • Andre Ese Ptpmiewor although the issue in Syria is not devoid of cold politics its quite appaling that one could criticize the united states role on the guise that are trying to expand their influence. if its fully proven that Assad used chemical weapons against his own people then he should be ousted.
  • Andre Ese Ptpmiewor the source of the chemical weapons is not anyway a justification for violating international laws.
  • Benedict Omokaro Ogheneochuko howbeit, are we looking at a third world war? hands crossed, looking at USA nd RUSSIA coz obviously the two now decide the fate of this present age....................
  • Orovwigho Kumeh Great intellectual reflections from diplomats n historians, It would be foolhardy on our part 2blive dat US and her allies want 2go 2 Syria 2 protect civilian population. I wish 2remind da house dat The USA had taken stands b4 now through its support 4 da free Syria Army and would try all it must 2 oust the Assad regime. The had assured da world dat the would nt interfere safe 4 da use of chemical weapons. Whence forth, the Assad regime n Hezbollah r capturing former rebel held regions like Aleppo,East Damascus n Qusayr. US and allies r losing grounds in Syria so the want 2 use any thing 2 claim Syria, even if it involves da use of smokescreen propaganda such as this. Iike Andre submitted, its Pseudo Pax Americana which failed in Iraq n Afghanistan

  • Ozato Wilson Mutual Assure Distruction (MAD) is NOT a Protocol neither is it Treaty nor Convention. It is a strategy in int'l politics & strategic studies.

  • Orovwigho Kumeh @ wilson please elaborate. @ Blessed, U can say dat again. Quid pro ante , Domestic solutions 4 domestic problems nt int"l solutions or bewildered presponderance. 4 domestic problem!!!
  • Hope Akpobasah Blessed, thanks but no thanks... America, like any nation who prides itself as a family, is only trying to save itself. What is there in propaganda? It has been proven beyond all reasons doubts-- and scientifically too, that Assad USED sarin poison against his own people on August 21. Now, let's ask ourselves some simple questions: What will happen to Israel and the West, if by a twist of luck, Assad wins? Wouldn't it be a slap on America's face to let Assad go unscathed? How would North Korea and Iran feel? Would the Balance of Power not be upset? Well, I know most of us still count on Moscow.Oh, something like the Vietnam War,huh? But let me warned, candidly, America will always INTERVENE in Syria.(Hey,did anybody underline that?), And Assad will not live to tell the story, even with all Putin's supports. Don't forget the NO-FLY ZONE that will be employed later!
  • Orovwigho Kumeh @Hope,my fingers are crossed, world politics is 2serious a business 2b decided by rhetorics
  • Hope Akpobasah Kumeh, there is absolutely nothing rhetorical about my writing.
  • Benedict Omokaro Ogheneochuko it all boils down to national interest, the US i know may not go off her mark until she has made her point, somehow someway, she must prevail over other powers, but "diplomacy" will again and always a weapon for the doggedly be a tool..................

  • Ozato Wilson @Kumeh. MAD is NOT a protocol, convention, treaty enacted by UN or d int'l community as stated above. It is a strategy in int'l politics & strategic studies wch assumes dat each side has enof nuclear weaponry 2 destroy d other side & dat either side if attcked 4 any reason by d other would retaliate wthout fail wth equal or even greater force. It is lik d theory of deterrence. MAD only help prevents direct conflict. Neither d US nor Soviet Union made it a protocol, treaty or convention wen it first startd during d 1940s -90s & even byond.

  • Idjakpa Oke Harrison What am trying to say is that America is looking for trouble in syria, looking for another justification to enter Syria as they did in Iraq again Hussein. This is not fair especially when that has to do with another propaganda, like the myths of Weapons of mass destruction on hussein.
